How to make a vCard QR code for a business card
A vCard QR code contains your full contact card, so scanning it opens a pre-filled 'add contact' screen instead of a website. Encode it as a static vCard rather than a link to a hosted profile, and it will still work years after the tool that made it has gone.
The usual way
- 1Open a 'digital business card' service and create an account.
- 2Fill in your name, title, company, phone, email and address on their site.
- 3Generate the code and download it — usually as a low-resolution PNG on the free plan.
- 4Print it on your business cards.
Where that falls short
- Most of these services generate a dynamic code that points to a profile page they host. When the free plan changes or the company folds, every card you printed becomes a dead link.
- Your full contact details sit in someone else's database, and the scan events are typically logged as a lead-generation feature — which is their product, not yours.
